Rustico at Hay Shed Hill

 All this stunning western Australian site seeing is making us hungry and we have had this winery/restaurant on our 

“have to eat at list”.

Was truly a wonderfull degustation lunch with great local wines.

Kangaroo salumi, Guindillas peppers and pickled caper.

For me the creamy old and musky smelling 

2010 Kerrigan + Berry Riesling 

Sands had the fresh and young 2024 K + B Riesling

Both great drops.

Dish of the day was the Western rock lobster on a crumpet with champagne and chive hollandaise, making a version of that when we get home that is for sure.

Lobster loaded!

Timber Hill pork collar braised low and slow in red wine to create over time a beautifully luscious sauce. 

Paella stuffed piquillo with romesco and manchego designed to eat all together on the little tortilla was yummo.

Really enjoyed the 2011 K + B Cabernet Sauvgnon.

It is just great to be able to get some fabulous older wine's to have with lunch.

Busselton - Rob & Rosanne

Was so great catching up with our dear friends after several years at this cool little bar, this was the main reason we 

came into WA from Rome.

Busselton - Jetty

 Big drive today 😂 …  left Mandurah and drove 160km further south to Busselton to spend 4 nights exploring this area and catching up with friends Rob and Rosanne. 

There is so much to see that you don't really need to drive too far anyway.

The Busselton jetty at sunset is spectacular as the sun sets in the west over the water and with the purple 

colours in the sky it is stunning.

 The timber jetty stretches out 1.8 km in to the Indian Ocean and in the past it was used for bring in supplies and exporting out timber.

Mandurah - Dolphin Cruise

We are now staying in Mandurah just 30km down south from Rockingham as we are doing a dolphin 🐬 boat trip and see dolphins we sure did. 

They were so friendly and super curious and just kept swimming up to the boat.

 As well as see the dolphins we also got to see one of the 6 recycled trash art installations built by Danish recycle artist 

Thomas Dambo. 

He is huge at 6m tall and only visible from the water so from the boat it was a great way to see him front on. 

In total it was a 2 and 1/2 boat trip in and around the Peel and Harvey inlet just below Mandurah

Was a fabilous freezing cold 🥶 🥶 day on the water so hot chocolates with the crispiest churro where needed once we got back on land.

Rockingham - Chippies

 Would you like chips with that?

No … you are having chips with that! 

We went to The Cray for lunch and wow what a funky fit-out they have 

Shared a cray roll … with chips!

Then had the scallop, prawn and fish tacos with spicy house sauce Big Yummo. 

Oh, did I mention that it also came with chip!

  

So that night tucked up in the comforts of our apartment watching MasterChef we had chippies warmer up as they had an air fryer!

(Cool little kitchen gadget that I have never used one before)

Yet the next morning there was still left over chippies for the seagulls.
