1608 Church

So from a cliff side church in the morning to a 1608 church on the top of a hill in the grounds of a old fortification castle dating back to the Norman period of the11th century.
Its our last few days in Sicily so we have been doing some historical site seeing in and around the Port of Milazzo. The castle was a interesting place to get to as the streets are so narrow and steep.
It’s history is also interesting as the Spanish, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and the Muslim have all had a part of the historical makeup of what we see today.

Inside it is now longer a church as the location is just to difficult to get to but apparently it not to difficult for the Art World to get too.
The whole church was set up as a art installation about small children.

The stairs to the Norman castle to check out the view over the port below

Looks befitting of my queen standing under the Byzantine Arch

My Sand's down the bottom, these last steps are just too steep and tall so I did the final trek to the top.

OMG you can see forever

The weathered windows all just so ancient.

Church Cliffside

This amazing church is carved into the side of a cliff over looking the Golfo di Patti on the west side of Capo di Milazzo.
Just stumbled across it as we were out walking.
Right up the top is Sandy at the look out.

The view from the church was spectacular

Kangaroo in ltaly

Saw this truck in the carpark in Sicily, not sure if someone is following me.

The art at Florio

As you would expect in any great winery is the art works and here in the central courtyard the walls are covered
This piece is 3 stories high

This sums up from the wine maker to the customer ...
Hmmmm I think I may have meet her somewhere

Old advertising poster for the 1800's when Marsala was sold as a "Health Tonic" that cured most sickness!

Lucky Day!

So just out the front of our gorgeous little hotel room in Malazzo fit for a small king! is the morning vege and fish markets.
The guys here are Sicilian fisherman ... so the markets didn't start till 8am how respectable, so the sleeping people with 1st floor balcony doors open to the sea over the road were not disturbed too early.

Loving these little trucks ...
I AM GOING TO DRIVE ONE BEFORE I LEAVE ITALY THIS TIME!!!!!

Notice the cat under the table waiting for one of those fresh fish to jump off the table.

Well it was his lucky day!

Is That Sandy ... with Shopping Bags!!!

Is That Sandy with Shopping Bags!!! for those who know Sandy, well lets just say shopping is not one of her favoured past times.
Lucky this is a wine shop ... so smiles all round.
But I think there might be a Bella little silk scarf that could have slipped into one of those little bags.

Recovering from Marsala Tasting!!

The best way to recover from a Marsala wine and food paring morning is to head to the beach, well I didn't think I should drive too far till ...well lets say, later in the day. So I think a Prosecco should help!!!, well it may just keep me here longer but what a great spot looking out over the Mediterranean Ocean.

Or maybe be 2

Something sweet (Dolce, so another Italian word for you)
Now this is an original cheese cake, beautiful crunchy biscuit base made with Italian Amaronie biscuits and melted butter,
Cook the tart base 15 mins then cool.
Mascarpone and cream cheese blitzed together till smooth, fill the base top with hot compote of berry's and chill and serve.
Recipe from of the beach chef, thanks AndrĂ©a.

So that's how you take a selfie with the I Pad !! that could come in handy.

The rocky beach looking back at the Beach Bar

Now to help suck up some of the Prosecco we had a Bresaola (air dried unsmoked meat) with Beetroot puree and a typical Sicilian cheese Salata which is from the whey of sheep's milk, the same as ricotta then is pressed and salted and aged for at least 90 days.
