1608 Church

So from a cliff side church in the morning to a 1608 church on the top of a hill in the grounds of a old fortification castle dating back to the Norman period of the11th century.
Its our last few days in Sicily so we have been doing some historical site seeing in and around the Port of Milazzo. The castle was a interesting place to get to as the streets are so narrow and steep.
It’s history is also interesting as the Spanish, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and the Muslim have all had a part of the historical makeup of what we see today.

Inside it is now longer a church as the location is just to difficult to get to but apparently it not to difficult for the Art World to get too.
The whole church was set up as a art installation about small children.

The stairs to the Norman castle to check out the view over the port below

Looks befitting of my queen standing under the Byzantine Arch

My Sand's down the bottom, these last steps are just too steep and tall so I did the final trek to the top.

OMG you can see forever

The weathered windows all just so ancient.

  1. Don't blame you Sandy. I would not be climbing high steep stairs either.
