Mahogany Bay - Honduras

It's a stunning day looking out from our balcony to the small island of Roatan off the north coast of Honduras.
Honduras mainland boarders Nicaragua & El Salvador.

Already the temperature is 30 degrees and super humid but here that is what one expects when you come into Central America. With the seas calming over night, this morning we are able to dock at our scheduled port of Mahogany Bay, Woo Hoo.

Domestic duties all done, washing hanging out on the balcony and with this heat it will be dry in minutes. Done several laps around the ships walking track, got coffee, backpack packed and on the end of the bed and once the captain gives the all clear and the gangplank is dropped we are heading out into the Jungle on a wild life tour.
It won’t be a Crocodile Dundee wrestling wild iguanas style of jungle tour!
No today is to be a subdued slower pace with just one other couple on a personal small tour.

The island of Roatan is only 60 miles long and 3 miles wide so even if our driver takes us “deep” into their jungle! we will still only be 1 & 1/2 miles from the coast line.

Our tour could not have been any slower than seeing the amazing sloths.
WOW these guys up close and personal are a true treat to experience.
This was a bucket list to be ticked off for
Sandy and ✅ ✔️ ☑️ it was.

Such a cute little round face, their mesmerising dark eyes that looked straight into our eyes and touched into our hearts. They were so much smaller than I was expecting and yes these guys just “sloth around” hanging from the branches on their
Edward Scissorhands looking claws!
They had super hard “looking” long hair and finally as off the 1st of April the government has put a band on these little guys being picked up and hung on tourist. Sandy and I were so happy that this ban is now in place for their protection but truth be known Sandy may have
been a little sad that she was not able to have a little cuddle.

I’m thinking that these little guys may be going through a little bit cuddle withdrawal, thinking why is that perfectly hang-on-able guy just sitting there … doesn't he know
“I STILL WANT A CUDDLE”
and really mate, from this distance it will take me the rest of the morning to get to you!

One very happy Sandy
