Glacier Bay

Our cruise ship today took us scenic cruising thought the Glacier Bay National Park and up into the Fjords and Glaciers.

This is not a get off the ship day, it was a get dressed again it all your clothes even the bed doona! tuck yourselves up on our deck chairs and take in all the majestic views while we had them.

Luck for us we had pretty fine weather, last weeks cruise ships couldn't see anything as it rained all day.
For us no rain and mostly clear sky's with some sun coming in between the clouds and when there were clouds they added to the scenery.
It’s was all about just quietly cruising into some of the world most stunning scenery that we have ever seen.

New Zealands Fjords at Christmas was stunning this was
“Stunning Stunning Stunning” it is just SO VAST.

Margerie Glacier over 2km wide at the northern end of Glacier Bay is the world quickest receding glacier and since 1750 has moved back to create Glacier Bay up some 100 km.
Some days over those early years it moved so quickly in a day that it displaced some of the local native people that they had to actually flee for their lives.
We had some traditional people and park rangers come onto the ship and do commentary over the outdoor PA so you could just sit back, listen and take it all in … this was why we splurged and got this suite as our 270 degree view was simply amazing today.

The colour of the water as you got closer to the glacier turned from clear to milky as the melting glacier fresh waters reach the seawater.

Today is not about “my words”
Its all about a feeling of being so small!
We are truly blessed to have had this awesome experience.
