Lyon - Need to walk OFF lunch

I need to post some pictures of places other wise you will be thinking all I do is eat!!

Seriously need to go for a walk to help negate the calories from our so called “light of lunch experience”.

We walked along the Rhone River and saw The Australian Bar on the OZ boat mored on the other side, it sure sounded rowdy so we got a bit nostalgic from a distance.

The stunning dome on top of the Hotel Dieu de Lyon on the banks of the Rhone River.

The quiet garden in side the walls of the du Palais St Pierre was a great place to sit and enjoy all the old statues and painted frescoes.

Barthildi Fountain and the square around it was a huge stone paved space for people to just wander and people watch!

The Church of Saint Nizier dating back to the 1690 made you feel very small and I wonder why the 2 different styles of steeples, one finished and ornate the other just of terracotta roof tiles … got to be a story there yet to be discovered by me!
Or is it for one to imagine ones own spiritual thoughts as to WHY is it so!!

In the inverted dome over the front doors at the front of the church with the graduating flower motifs and different baby's faces.
Check out the one in the centre … not having a good day!
Looking from a distance I love the scale of the graduations giving today the same look as way back then and just so cleaver the scaling of the stone carvings.

  1. A guess for the two different styles of steeple: Perhaps they ran out of money, had to raise more and, by the time they had enough, the materials that matched the first one were no longer available.
