Todays humid 42 deg temperature has dropped just enough for us to emerge from the pool by 9.00pm and hit the Coast Hotel’s 6th floor roof top bar for a late dinner, but … no, for the Italian holiday makers it is still way too early for dinner and we still have the place all to our selves.
Great views out to the Adriatic sea and all you can see are umbrella’s that have been put to bed for miles.
Looking north towards Ravenna from the back of the roof bar all you can see is the tops of the pine trees, Pinus Pinea.
The pine trees of this area are now protected and are pruned up every year to keep them like a huge umbrella from the under side but from the roof top it is a lush green sea of newly sprouting pine needles.
Said pine trees from ground level.
This is the roundabout just up from our hotel, it is huge and like driving around a little lush pine forrest with little paths, seats and water falls.
The white wine (rebola grape variety) is local to Rimini just 10 km south. The vines are grown in the salty sandy soil so the grapes have a touch of mineral salts that comes to play in the flavour of the wine and it teamed so well with our
seafood dinner.
These guys do coperto so well!
Focaccia, seedy flat bread, the freshest bread sticks and
“piece de resistance” was the
Tarallo Napoletano.
This savoury ring shaped biscuit, crunchy and firm with a tender, dry powdery, softer centre with fennel seeds and chilly pepper, so yummy. Something similar to a Tarallo in Puglia but not quite as dry.
Also a cheeky little amuse-bouche of goats cheese mousse
with Bottargo and a lace leaf cracker.
Bussola del Pescatore was our starter.
Pasta filled with scallops, prawns, ricotta and lime,
with some scampi tartare and a bisque of scampi.
I’m coming back to the roof top bar to have this again
thats for sure.
Then we had the sea bass with smoked potatoes, king mushrooms and shallot beurre blanc.
Such a great little boutique hotel … I think we have just won the
booking an Italian Accommodation lottery!
As what you see on line is not ALWAYS what you get!!!!!
but here, they have exceeded all of our expectations.
View, wine, food, company . All amazing. You done good 😊
