We arrive to a very bizarre isolated farm with stone buildings and exquisite green lawns set in the middle of wheat and hay fields. We were greeted by the 22 yr old daughter who spoke some English. She showed us to our apartment and was really curious as to how we had arrived to her property, as it was so far off the tourist track. We explained we were looking for the grass roots cooking experience which is what attracted us to them.
The room was well ....childlike in its theme but had all we needed. Check out the web site www.pratodegliangeli.it the place was so classy from the out side but oh so kitch on the inside with our bed being painted in autumn colours with a hollowed out tree trunk hiding 3 little foxes glaring at you. Pine furniture with plastic cloths set the rest of the scene. The other 3 rooms in this out building were empty so me being the stick beak just had to check them out and it seem the same 10 year old interior decorator had been used as they depicted the other 3 seasons of the year. Bambi stared in winter and angles on the swings in summer.
The main house was a different story....because we had booked for 4 nights we were given a complementary single use for "zona relaxa" So dressed in white fluffy robes and swimmers we were escorted in to the ground floor where there was the most amazing indoor spa and pool area that any 5 star international hotel would be proud to have. The pool was 15 meters long 4 meters wide in an airconditioned room and heated by wood fire. The music was started and the lights show began. She tells us we have the place to ourselves as there is now one else in until the weekend some have the place to ourselves. Also there is a sauna set at 60 deg and "emotional shower" room which we didn't use....we looked in and saw dozens of water jets squirting water from all directions we would skip it.
The money that had been spent here was amazing and we questioned our host when she bought back our green tea and water had they won the lottery but her dad was in construction and the property was owned by the grandfather and in the economic crisis they decided to diversify and ride it out. So they will come eventually they hope!
