" Highway " 2695 . 6

So we arrived at 5 pm to the top of another hill this time in the little town of  Stanco in a mountainous area 50 km under Bologna some 4 hours later than expected as Ms Gloria decided to take us on the scenic tour. Granted we did push her buttons and ask if we could avoid the major toll ways and take in some scenery, she certainly has a wicket sense of humour. We had the best day driving and enjoyed the steep roads of the Campigna National Park in the highest point of the mountains and in this area the view were just spectacular, but Ms Gloria enough is enough. Some of the roads that she did call " highways " were hmmmm seriously only wide enough for one car but she keep assuring us turn left at " highway 296 "  " turn right a highway 477 "
but I think they call everything here a highway !!!
One such small highway again had the look of 2 ways at the start the road is divided with the little white line as you start and then about 300 m in they must have run out of white paint as that white line was no longer, and a little sigh indicating the road narrows, the tree leaves ever so softly now starting to brush either side of the car as we make our way deeper into the forrest. Just beautiful BUT what about if someone other than one on a bike was coming the other way!!!
At that point Gloria enters into the conversation and let's us know that we will turn right in 4 km on to " highway 652 " not sure how comforting that was, cause as the number were getting bigger the " highways " were getting narrower but maybe she knows something that we don't.
Nope its a dirt track and at that point Gloria and I came to blows and Sandy told her to pull her head in and sit in the back seat and be quiet! We will consult the maps for the next little while until we could work out exactly where we were.
Thanks to Merv a friend from Aus that loaned us a great big laminated map, we worked out where, well we establish perhaps where we had come from and in which direction we should go until we get to a town or a building that was shown on his map,  so now after another 30 min driving we see a place and it lines up with the map smiles all round we are back on the the road to recovery and not too much discovery...

Don't get me wrong we had a great day driving the mountains were just amazing and now " that's off the bucket list " it was just a long way and the roads were narrow. We did manage to pass other traffic it was tighter and closer than the tunnel in Piobbico and you got to see the other driver up real close and the passengers closer so with a smile and a wave both parties would move by with a precision driving skills well at least one party did......  One probably shat themselves.....

We are heading to a small osteria  in the mountains that we have booked in to do some classes with a mother and daughter in their kitchen.
Our accommodation in a tree house for the next 7 nights and now has turned out to only be 3 as the steps to the bed area at the top of the loft was steeper, narrow and much slippery than the road that Ms Gloria had bought us today. Great for someone with feet 1/2 the size of mine and as I do sleep walk I could see me crashing to my death through the 2 story plate glass window at the bottom of the steps and with the valley of this mountain some 1000 m below my body would never be recovered. The view was amazing but the stairs just to scary !!!!
So with a bit of interior decoration during daylight hours I bring ( hmmm drop over the balcony ) the matrices down from the loft and set them up on the sofa bed,  be it a bit tall but very soft and oh so comfortable.
Wha Lar we now have a studio apartments.......
