Walking Lesbos

We walked our way for hours through the small streets taking in the village atmosphere most of the allies were only big enough for motor cycles that weaved and darted around us boat people.
This place must have been a hive of actively in years past as there were 100's of colourful little 2 stories shops were the locals would have traded by day and sleep upstairs by night.

Today the colour can still be seen as the years have taken its toll in places, but this all adds to the quaint feel as we stroll through the many little shops still trading and dozens of great little eateries some only 3 little tables for 2 and all tucked away from the main tourist port where we docked.
It's is very much a simple existence in a sea post with people selling all the necessary bits that the locals need and NO tourist markets so it was a real treat to walk amongst them and share a chat as they went about their day to day duties.

We walked our way under wisteria covered trellises that add cool shade to the hot and humid day, found a great little spot to take in the atmosphere so started with a local Greek beer and said we had to try the cuttlefish. Started with a fresh and cold Greek salad and some moussaka. We did have time to kill but started thinking after a hour that it was perhaps taking a bit long to receive out cuttlefish, we are told it is on it's way and then shortly a young man on a bike rides in and drops of a bag so it doesn't get much fresher than that.
