Wow what a great day Saturday was and today Sandy is so looking forward to her one on one day with Praveen.
Todays cook will be a spicy Southern Indian traditional breakfast dish that Praveen grew up in India
Dosa a Green Lentil Pancake with a potato filling
The spicy coconut, peanut and sesame seed Salan as the side.
Eaten with out cutlery and was stunning.
This is a winner big time for us both and for the spicy lovers it will be part of The Retreat's Breakfast option.
and a chicken Biryani.
Praveen moved to Scotland in his early 20's to further his opportunities as a chef. Now 15 years later he has developed his own empire and his passion for the Indian cuisine shows through.
Today he is a guest TV chef, has a restaurant with 15 staff, wife and 2 cute little daughters, a business partner helping with the development of his own range of ready meals, is a traveling catering business, supports his village in India by importing spices straight for his home village and also a cooking school ... it exhaust me as to how much energy one person can have. Best of all we have the chance to be part of that energy for a day learning traditional Indian cuisine from him.
Biryani is dry rice dish and with a spicy rich flavour dating from the 14/15th
century Persia and is a traditional Rajasthan dish. The original Biryani was a goat
stuffed with whole chickens and rice wrapped in Jute and buried for 5 days in the
desert…
Happy today we have gas to help cook this dish as here in Scotland summer is just not hot enough and well no deserts either.
