Our journey took us about 2 and 1/2 hours as most of the drive is through the Appenino Umbro Marchigiano mountains. It was a pretty drive on lots of small slow roads, as it was still in the high 30's the landscape is very brown after a long hot and dry summer.
Marche boarders Umbria to the left and goes down the Adriatic Ocean on the right.
Stoped for a bite of lunch at a cute little road side trattoria.
A trattoria is cheaper than a restaurant and is where you will fine lots of locals, just how we like it.
Rigatoni with a spicy meat sauce
As we are in the mountains I had the ravioli filed with ricotta and herbs with fresh Porcini ... scrum o, their is that special something about fresh Porcini
As it is the end of summer and especially here in the mountains area where autumn is shorter the fresh garden product is at the stage where you have bulk and its time to do something with it to get the locals through a long and snowy winter.
