Le chiuse di Guadagna Farmhouse

We drove the 244 km south from our relaxing weekend stop at the Crystal Sea Hotel and the kitchen of Collette and we ended up on the south coast of Sicily (the bottom and the most southerly point of Italy) so now overlooking the Mediterranean Ocean again.
We are here for 3 nights and we booked in to have some more cooking classes. The trip down took 5 hours and some of that was on freeways but most on smaller roads, so not a fast trip.
The landscape changed from the mountainous with loads of tunnels to coming out into the farming flats any a few km from the Mediterranean Ocean.

Paddocks of zucchini for as far as the eyes can see.
The area is very stony so the sides off the roads are fenced with local rocks, it reminds us of Puglia southern Italy or a dryer Ireland.

These stone walls are everywhere, the roads are a little wider so driving is calmer! nice change from the mountains.

Open fields with free range cows, this is a bit different to more northern parts of  Italy with its warmer climate here the animals are not in sheds.

And of course, what is more southern then the prickly pears.

So after our "detailed instruction and direction" from our hosts we "did" arrive.
Dear Sandy and Pete,
The farmhouse is located in the countryside between Scicli and Modica and hasn?t got any specific address. Great ...We remind you not to insert our address in the GPS, because it is not able to  find it, hence it could be misleading. OK will do, could you put a red hankie on the gate so we know to land!!!!

So just follow the rocky canyon

Over the overpass bridge, so the one without a name, yep that will be helpful!

Don't turn off at the little dirt road ... Avanti Avanti, well that just takes all the fun out of it, "Gloria 2" LOVES dirt roads.

Heading to Marina Di Modica wow a sign! looking good.

So don't go past the white house with the blues shutters, maybe we went a bit of script, opps, but how cute.

So back to the rocky walled roads and

Le chiuse di Guadagna Farmhouse

How simple was that!!!

Cool place owned by a young female architect

From our window there is the Mediterranean Ocean

So time to head out and check out the area, as tomorrow we have a cooking class.

Ciao P
