Sandy chilling in " one " of her natural environments.

It's just sooooo rainy out, so it's indoors for our 1st Roman dinner for the two of us.

Beautiful location just around the corner for our apartment.
Moody and as it is only 7pm (Italian nursing home time) we have the place to ourselves ... well at the moment!
So a few drinks till the kitchen opens.

A little thing I look for is what sort of glassware they have on the tables, if it's not a solid glass tumblers it's a good chance the food is a bit better. 6000 restaurants in Roma so when you only have several opportunities you want them to be good and not just a tourist trap.
Tonight's pick was fantastic, the foods amazing and the wine perfectly matched to the courses.
The finest handmade thin grissini tops it all off.

Great wine selection.
Now Bill this is my thoughts for a wall at The Retreat what do you think?

The Welcome from the kitchen.
Looks like capriccio!
Nope ... It was eggplant pickled in beetroot juice on a parmersum crumb and pecorino cream.

Creamy cod ( Bacala ) with mint pickled zucchinis strips, onion ash, sundried tomato crumb and eggplant and onion fry-ups!

Apple ravioli and raw prawns ... ahaaa the memories of the Italian Raw Prawns sooooo sweet and with the apple marriage in heaven

They said it was a white fish and to me tasted like bream, served with fava bean puree ... Spring heaven dish!

Apple and celeriac desert with apple cream and cinnamon ice cream, so not to sweet and an interesting play with flavours.

  1. Wow! Such an interesting meal. Sadly still can’t find pecorino cream in Sydney 😥

  2. I agree with all comments especially with Peter and his idea for a wall at the Retreat. I suppose me having a feature wall like that is out of the question? Yeah probably is.
