Our last day in Switzerland so the guys want to take us up the mountains above there little village to see where they ski in the winter.
We are heading up from 900m to the Mountain of Santsch at 2040 high.
All I can say was thank goodness we went in their car the roads were so narrow and sooooo soooooo steep. Mountain drivers are the same as the rest of the Italian drivers so most of the time I just looked at the scenery below, way way below and got a bit of a feel for what Sandy may have experienced when I was driving. We were both in the back and she made a b- line to sit behind the drivers seat and said you should really need to experience life " on the edge " and with a grin from ear to ear !!!!
Well it was all worth it we reached the summit to a snow covered luna desert landscape, the wind alpine flower every where so we walk and enjoy the quiet.
Lunch is in the small restaurant with its whole shabby chic meets Swiss mountain top /teddy bear and doll collection! it was a visual...... treat......not..
So we sit outside on timber trellis and enjoy the great outdoor and with onion soup to start followed by some tended and succulent pig belly and to top it all of some cheese fondue. So you couldn't have more of a Swiss experience.
After lunch we make our way back down the mountain past a high verge of snow on the road side so Sandy and I like big kids, well more like me being a big kid want to play in the last of the seasons snow. So with our names and a heart inscribed in the verge of snow for the world to see well until the afternoons sun melts it away.
Land slips are a big problem on the slopes around here and high on most of the mountains are wire fences to stop the snow movement but as we are making our way down we are stopped by a workers truck and are diverted around a hug big bolder that would have put a very big hole in any car so with a photo and a deep breath we make our way further down the mountain.
