Viola Restaurant @ Torrie

They ever had a Michelin star restaurant in the village of Torrie called Viola but now not rated any more as the cook wants to be pleasing the customers and not the judges. Well we certainly were  pleased the cooking and the food was just amazing.
The atmosphere was a real funky interior fit-out, and once it finally got dark the lighting kicked in and it was like a romantic wonderland of some spotlights that throw amazing spiral shapes on the mauve and red walls with it gold leaf columns and the red Perspex diverters.
The table were black gloss and had red leaves decoupage onto them.
The toilets were the funkiest we have seen in Italy. You walk through a large smooth operating mauve mat painted door some 300 mm thick that you opened by a big soup ladle  into a unisex hand washing area all with lacquered gloss red walls, floors and ceiling and with the same spun out mood lighting over the black gloss marble stab that sloped back to the wall under the funky sensor taps to a single slit that formed the waste point.
A door each side again with 300mm thick smooth opening doors with cut outs in them about 200  x  300mm with a female fabric doll in slumped red glass internally illuminated and a male one on the other side. These were a bit freaky and looked like dolls that an axe murder may collect!!!!

We had a then smallest little bowl of the most intense Zucchini broth with micro flowers and Parmesan croĆ»ton that you ate with a spoon 1/2 the size of a coffee spoon
Sandy had the Open Lasagna with asparagus and Monte Veronese Mouse
and Veal Osso Buco with polenta and bean sauce.

I had the Tagiolini Pasta with goose confit ragu
and Large Prawns wrapped in a turkish spun pastry and deep fried with a liquid salad.
Great food and the funkiest atmosphere and our 2 km walk back up the hill to our villa helps walk off the dinners and build up the calf mussel thats for sure....
We have leave the car by night as to get a car park in the old town of Torri is impossible.

  1. We don't hear mention of that new green checked jacket been worn at any of these celubrious establishments. You really need to lift your game Pete and show those Italians what amazing dress sense us AUstralians have!
