Masseria Serra Dell'Isola

Masseria Serra Dell'Isola is where we are currently cooking. It is located 10 km in from the Adriatic Sea and 20km south of Bari in the food region of Puglia on the east coast of Italy.

Masseria is the Italian word used in the south for farm house.
Being the end of the season we are the only guests rambling around this huge Masseria, so with Rita as our personal teacher for the next few days we may just stay on a bit more, will see.
Rita and Sandy are like "cooking sisters" and are both having a ball learning from each other. While I just can't stop walking around taking pictures ... LOVE this place and love the feeling of history that has happened here and stayed here as it has been in the same family for ever.
The difference here is that it is as it has always been, not a lot of renovation and picture and furniture that were put up or placed centuries ago are still in the same place.
I love touching the past knowing that, its as if they are all still here.
This was where Rita used to come as a child for the summer with her parents and grandparents, not a bad summer house! about 30 rooms in total. All unique and stunning in a old Italian farm house sort of way.

This is one of Rita's uncles who died of the Black Plague and his picture is just outside our room. So a bit confused as the Black Plague was 1340's so a few more question yet to be answered.
