Being in Russia and the Baltic States means their is plenty of opportunities to have some real caviar. Our driver took us to a supermarket so we could buy at locals prices, not tourist prices or worst still
"Ship Prices!!!" and still the little black eggs are pricy even here. But what a great treat, insert 4 smiley faces! especially as the girls from the cooking class sent us home with some local vodka.
Below is one of the traditional ways to serve caviar.
A little P & S refresher story for those who have heard of Sandy and my first amazing real experience with caviar which was personally flown in from over the English Channel by Peter Q in his private plane just for us to share with them on our first trip to their English Country House (as you do!!)
This was how it was served to us some 20 years ago with Australian bubbles to toast our Aussie connection to them in Macclesfield, up country.
It was on a cool mid-summers evening just the 4 of us sitting either side of a huge 20 seater table with ancient pictures of the English fox hunters with their little red coats adorning the timber clad walls in the stunning dining room of a 600 year old English Country House.
We were with 2 beautiful and very eccentric English friends in the rolling green country side of northern England near the boarder of Wales overlooking their lake with black Western Australian swans!
How lucky and blessed are we to have meet them and being a small part of there amazing lives and invited to stay in their home.
RIP Peter & Norma xx
