Off to the Food Museum to see

food, utensils, table decoration and Nordic lifestyle since 1532.
Amazing building set up in the early 20th century as a dream of one very eccentric and very rich person who wanted to create a building to show some of his collections, unfortunately he died 5 year before the building was even finished.

set out over 4 floors with hundreds of displays and the audio explanation were so interesting.

Afternoon Tea's, from the 1920's, so just pre the cream filled sponges era (1926) were introduced to any proper afternoon tea. (clearly a depressing period! no whipped cream)
Pre this time in the historical regions of the Nordic's it was polite for ladies to refuse a biscuit 3 times before accepting the hosts very generous offer ... On the other hand it was proper for the hosts to have to keep offering 4 times!
Really! if you want the biscuit just take it ... it would have been a yes or no question in my book.
I would not have been invited back to many afternoon teas,
well if I was a lady that is.

Then we have a table from the 17th century, very elegant.

Then back in the 15th century the era when you bought your own cutlery, the host supplied the pewter plates.
This was also pre understanding the food hygiene standards and many a guest didn't go home, sad but true. This white swan carcass "reusable" as a table centre had many a roast dinner served from it and it would have carried many a germ prior to them understanding this fact.

A wonder home from the museum through the many tree lined walking track that crisscross this beautiful city.

Meet some really tall people

Back to our beautiful hotel, need to repack as tomorrow we set sail again.

The city map, we were situated in the middle of this map, the red dot just above the green horizontal line marks our hotel.
