Recycling Helsinki style

Loving the whole Nordic recycling, here in Helsinki at the supermarket you return you plastic's and bottles into this hole in the wall and it enters points onto your supermarket card so you can redeem discounts off you next shopping bill.  

 

Looking inside the hole in the wall as you do, stickybeak Pete! its a huge room and the articles are sucked in and sorted and spat out if you try and cheat and put in something that is not registered for recycling.

But be carful as the machine has your card prior to opening its mouths so don't do something wrong or it can debit credits from your supermarkets card also.

 

 

We also went out into the suburbs for a drive to a new suburb and here the houses all have a vacuum recycling unit built into your kitchen when everything including organise are sent to a suburb collection point so no need to have garbage truck.
