Taxi Ride

Todays pre booked tour around Dubrovnik was cancelled last minute by "Mr Costa" apparently not enough English speaking people on the cruise of 3000 to make it worth their while ...
not happy Mr Costa.
Perhaps spend less time cruising to close to pretty girls on the rocks!!! and then your company would have enough money to loose a few euro's and look after the minority sector on one of your cruises.
NEVER doing a Costa cruise again and won't be recommending them either.
Well there's step one! bad naming to some of my blog followers.
Happy now Pete! got that off your chest, Yep insert smiley face..

So at the port we hired one of the local taxies for 50 euro for one hour, compared to Costa's 33 euro just to drive us 4 km into the old town, rip off Mr Costa.
We said to our local driver that we wanted to see some sights that the tours don't take the tourist. He drove us 45min out of the old city and to the pretty beach areas.

Sat under a 1747 London Plane tree and listened to the trickling of the cool water over the mossy green rocks.

Gave Sandy some time to take more texture pictures, her current thing!

Than a trip to the old tourist area bombed in 1991, sad to see but now part of the historical mix that has moulded the area. Sadly 27 year's on the hotels are still abandon. The War ruined the country and it's a slow rebuild of some of the less tourist spots.

Some of many hotels

The former presidential palace now also looted and destroyed, which is where after the president death by natural course in the 1980's that the country started to go into decline and war broke out.
Simple quote from the taxi driver.

Interesting but so sad to see, it made me think what I was doing in 1991! that's for sure,

Some calm and beautiful waters to reflect by

and one of the new rebuilt hotels from 2015, peoples new futures moving on.

  2. Looks like a more interesting tour then Mr Costa was offering.
What a shame about the war and the down turn in the economy. The President,s Palace looks like it would have been stunning. So sad.
