Corfu in Greece

Today sailing further south and then across the Mediterranean Ocean from the shores of Italy into the Lonian Sea and the Greek Islands, our 1st stop is the island of Corfu.
Corfu is the most northerly of the Lonian Islands and is located at the entrance to the Adriatic Sea, in the heart of the Mediterranean. Kerkyra or Corfu Town, the capital, has an important old town with Venetian fortresses dating from 12th to 15th century. It has been invaded over the centuries by the Italian, Turkey, Russian and back through British rule given back to the Greeks.

 It's a big sucker 3000 passengers 1500 crew.

Off the ship and today we are looking for a taxi driver to take us for the day to have a bit more of an individual look around the island. Loads of ship options on busses, but after yesterday 100’s of passengers going all the same direction so today wanting to slow the pace down and see some more typical Greek places and produce. Found George at the end of the pier and if ever you are in Corfu just tell him that Sandy, Lorna and Peter from Australia send their love. He was a great ambassador for Corfu and he took us to lots of great places to see the sights and meet some locals. George is a Melbourne born Greek and his Greek parents returned to Corfu in the 1990’s so he was our English-speaking tour guide that new Corfu and Australia,

 Saw some sights.
