Bardock for Suzie and Ross

Hi guys to answer your question hmmmmm Bardock tastes very different depending on how it is cooked.
Here it is fresh and slightly pickled, so was crisp like an apple with the taste of the miso, sake and mirrin, it's the white cube in the skewer ... courtesy JAL

Here at Hiroko's place we had it as part of the Beef & Potato dish, so was soft like a potato and took on the flavour of the brazing liquid

Bardock ... top and slightly to the right

We also had it  as tempura at a shopping centre food court and then it was like a woody chip (not the best way)

So to answer your question it is a early spring root vegetable that takes on other flavours but taste slightly of a mix of parsnip and turnip
